Defining the fear of ghosts – The fear of ghosts also known as Phasmosphobia or spectrphobia can be defined as an abnormal, constant and often debilitating fear of ghosts. The phobia sufferer experiences undue anxiety and stress while in dark and secluded spaces such as empty houses or forests. He or she also realizes that the fear is ungrounded and generally irrational. The fear often originates from age-old cultural beliefs and traditions that the majority of ghosts are malignant, benignant and mischievous towards human beings. Continue reading
