Fear can take many forms. It can leave a person feeling powerless and it can be created from, seemingly nothing. There are fears on every conceivable subject and a fear of poverty is one of them. Whilst no one wants to live in poverty it usually will take a very unpleasant (and unexpected) chain of events to make this happen.
If you live with a fear of poverty you will need to learn how to overcome it. As doing this will help you to live a stress free life – something that everyone is looking for. Also in overcoming your fear you will be able to feel that you have mastered it. Here are some methods which can help you to overcome this fear.
Try to understand that poverty does not tend to happen instantly. It is highly unlikely that you will wake up one morning and have lost everything. In order to deal with a fear you need to be able to rationalize it. Aim to think about this every day for 5 or 10 minutes and you will start to see your fear in a different way.
If you spend a great deal of time thinking about your fear, limit yourself. This might seem like an impossible task, but it is possible. Some people even set aside ‘worrying time’ where they will set a timer for 10 minutes and worry. When the alarm goes off you should stop and make an effort not to think about your fear. Over time this will help you to overcome your fear and get back to normal.
If these do not work you should consider talking therapy. This can be a huge help to anyone who has any kind of fear. Speaking to someone about your fear can put it into perspective and help you learn further coping mechanisms.
