There are many forms of phobias and while some of these are well known and suffered by a large number of people, many of them are particularly obscure and virtually unheard of. One of these particularly obscure fears is Homichlophobia which is the irrational and illogical fear of fog. As with many of these types of irrational fears, there may be no apparent basis or reason for it but for some it may be a serious problem.
The fear of fog can be associated with a number of things. People suffering from this problem consider fog to be the perfect cover for something to be hiding in. It brings the darkness to the world, a greyness and clouds an area with suspicion. People might think it could be the perfect place for criminal to hide and jump out.
It might be something to do with them or supernatural fear, the thought of ghosts and lost souls wandering around in the fog, shrouded by its obscure nature. Fortunately, all of this kind of thinking is completely illogical and has absolutely no basis in reality.
Getting ever any phobia requires you to reprogram your brain. It requires you to start realising the fact that your phobia is completely illogical and has no basis at all. There are many different reasons why you could experience such a phobia, but it is something the most likely began in childhood. A lot of this the begin in childhood do tend to persist through to adult life.
There are a number of different ways to get rid of a phobia and if it is particularly serious, you might find it advisable to go to a psychiatrist. Hypnotism is also a popular method for getting over a fear although many scientists remain unconvinced by its power.
